SHENANGO TWP. — A Shenango Township woman was killed just after midnight Friday in a motorcycle accident along Route 65.

Leanne Essinger, of Savannah Road, was pronounced dead at the accident scene by Lawrence County Deputy Coroner Richard Johnson. Coroner Russell Noga said Essinger’s body was taken Friday to Heritage Valley Beaver hospital for an autopsy and that results would likely be available Saturday.

Shenango Township police said Essinger was a passenger on a motorcycle driven by Robert Essinger around 12:05 a.m. on Route 65 just north of Center Church Road, where Robert Essinger lost control of the bike.

Both driver and passenger were thrown from the motorcycle, resulting in fatal injuries to Leanne Essinger. Police did not release medical treatment information for Robert Essinger. Investigation of the accident continued through Friday morning.
